Specific Product Information

Relevant tech information

Features of Hybrid:

·         Capable of handling upwards of 110psi.

·         Simple, direct bolt on kit. Includes all accessories required for installation.

·         Utilises GFB’s TMS technology.

Use cases:

·         Compatible with vehicles that utilise a hose type flange/flange mount pneumatically actuated bypass valve from factory.

·         For other use cases or if aftermarket intercooler piping is used, please contact us to confirm fitment.

Self-troubleshooting steps:

I feel like I am experiencing a loss of power/boost. What can I do to diagnose this?

o   If you feel like you’re experiencing a loss of power/boost as a result of the BOV, it’s worth noting that this can only be caused if the valve is prematurely venting (opening) under boost conditions. With our valves, we recommend looking through the trumpet to see if the piston has jammed in a stuck position. This would more than likely be able to be heard whilst accelerating through an audible “whooshing” sound. If your piston has somehow gotten jammed, please send us some photos of this to [email protected]. However, if your piston is in not jamming but still opening whilst accelerating, we highly recommend checking your vacuum line that is connected to the top of the valve. Please ensure that this hose is not damaged or torn as more than likely, this is responsible for valves to prematurely vent.

How do I diagnose my valve?

o   With the valve uninstalled from your vehicle, inspect the body of the valve, and look for any visible signs of damage. The anodising on the body should still be black and not scored. Next, ensure that all O-rings, recirc outlets and the vacuum nipple are undamaged and in good condition.

If something looks to be damaged or abnormal, please be sure to contact us at [email protected] and we’ll be sure to provide the relevant information and resources on how to proceed next.

FAQ:

What is the difference between your blow off valve range? I’m not too sure what I need.

o   The only key difference among our blow off valve range is the level of adjustability when venting to atmosphere. They all have the same performance related benefits. The factor that separates our blow off valve range is the level of adjustability between venting to atmosphere and recirculating back into the intake. The Mach 2, alike the OEM bypass valve, is our fully recirculating OEM replacement and will not vent to atmosphere. However, if you were after something that was capable of venting to atmosphere, we do have the Hybrid, Respons and Deceptor Pro II valves available.

Out of the three, the Hybrid is least adjustable; with only three venting profiles being able to be achieved including: full recirc, 50/50 and full atmo. The Respons and Deceptor Pro II valves, however, are fully adjustable with any outcome between full recirc and full vent to atmosphere being able to be achieved. The Deceptor Pro II also has the added benefit in being able to have its venting bias electronically controlled through a head unit from the comfort of your vehicle cabin compared to the Respons, which will need to be manually adjusted.

Can I convert my hose mount valve to a flange mount (or vise versa)?

o   Unfortunately, no. This is due to the bodies of the flange mount valve differing to the those on the hose mount valves. Because of this, it’s not possible to convert from one style to another.

I’ve just performed a smoke test and have found a boost leak from the recirc port.

o   When smoke testing a dual port blow off valve, it’s worth noting that they will often show a false positive indication for a boost leak. This is because, when performing a smoke test, they pressurise both the inlet and outlet of the valve – when the recirc port of a dual port BOV is not designed to (and doesn’t need to) hold pressure. We’ve talked about diagnosing boost leaks in numerous tech articles and videos that can be found on our YouTube channel or on our website.

I have aftermarket intercooler piping, is it possible to fit one of your valves onto my vehicle?

o   Yes! It definitely is possible. We do have a range of V-band weld on adaptors available in both Stainless Steel and Aluminium finishes. It is also worth noting that the V-band weld on adaptors are only compatible with our valves with a hose mount and not a flange mount.

How do I convert my Hybrid valve to full vent to atmosphere or full recirculation from 50/50?

o   For full vent to atmosphere, we recommend unscrewing the recirculation outlet from the Hybrid and installing the provided screw-in plug in its place. Afterwards, use the provided recirculation hose plug and insert it into the recirculation hose – now your valve is configured to be full vent to atmosphere.

o   For full recirculation, we recommend uninstalling the trumpet from the Hybrid and installing the provided screw-in plug in its place.

I’m interested in rebuilding my valve, do you offer rebuild kits?

o   Yes, we do. Generally, however, we always recommend contacting us first to see if a rebuild kit is generally needed. In most cases, we’re able to provide a solution without having to purchase any other accessories.

Next steps:

If you are still having trouble, then the next steps are to contact our Tech Support team. Videos, photos, and a clear description of the symptoms you are experiencing would give us a better understanding of what is going on and how to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Remember, we can’t see your car or product, so our diagnosis is only as good as the information that you provide us.
